Evercore Oncology Information Manager installed at UC-Davis

TeraMedica Healthcare Technology signs agreement and installs EvercoreTM Oncology Information Manager at UC-Davis Cancer Center within UC-Davis Health System California

MILWAUKEE, October 25, 2006 — TeraMedica Healthcare Technology announced today that the University of California-Davis Cancer Center in Sacramento installed TeraMedica's Evercore Oncology Information Manager integrated with IMPAC Medical Systems’ MOSAIQTM image-enabled, oncology specific, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in its central hospital’s radiation therapy clinics and satellite facilities. The Evercore system will use the Pillar Axiom system as its storage architecture.  “As part of the agreement UC-Davis will join TeraMedica’s Oncology Advisory Board to help identify new product features required to meet the changing needs of Cancer treatment,” stated Jim Prekop,  CEO TeraMedica.

“We have many disparate systems in our radiation therapy department and they each interpret DICOM and Non-DICOM information differently,” said Dr. James Purdy, Director of Radiation Oncology Physics for UC-Davis. “We needed a software program that would solve the data storage and transfer problems we face in the radiation oncology realm while also providing a solid foundation for further refinement and development of image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) workflow and quality assurance process software tools, and also set the stage for the development of a discovery database that will significantly enhance our cancer research programs.”

“The installation of TeraMedica’s Evercore and soon to be installed IMPAC MOSAIQ image-enabled EMR is an important step in the further development of our image-guided radiation therapy program,” says Dr. Srinivasan Vijayakumar, Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology. “The IMPAC/TeraMedica system will allow us to manage the IGRT process much more effectively,” he adds.

Evercore – Oncology Information Manager, integrates and manages all Radiation Therapy (RT) DICOM information objects and all other associated Non-DICOM Clinical Content, such as that involved in treatment planning systems. The software will help UC-Davis bring together information from a diverse range of equipment having different operating systems. With access through the IMPAC’s MOSAIQ EMR, the Evercore – Oncology Information Manager will be used as the department’s central DICOM data repository and RT-image management system.

Evercore performs the management and storage of clinical images and associated information within the IMPAC application. The user engages these functionalities from within IMPAC’s MOSAIQTM environment,  and accesses information to perform these tasks within the context of whichever patient record happens to be selected.
