TeraMedica’s Versatile Evercore Vendor Neutral Architecture to Launch IT Initiatives at Renown

(February 21, 2012 - MILWAUKEE, WI) TeraMedica, Inc., a healthcare informatics company based in Milwaukee, announced that following the signing of an agreement between the parties Nov. 30, 2011, Renown Health, Reno’s only locally owned not-for-profit integrated health network, will implement TeraMedica's Evercore®Enterprise Vendor Neutral Architecture (VNA) in mid-2012. Specifically, Renown Health will utilize TeraMedica’s Evercore Smartstore™ DICOM and non-DICOM modules, as well as Evercore Univision.

The complete deployment includes numerous regional facilities throughout a 17-county area in northern Nevada, Lake Tahoe and northeast California.

“Renown Health was looking to accomplish a number of priorities from a technical standpoint,” said Jim Prekop, TeraMedica’s President and CEO. “Their overarching goal was to bring replacement PACS and new hardware infrastructure under one umbrella.  Our patented technology, Evercore, has the flexibility and scalability to give Renown what they needed and more.”

“Renown’s investment in TeraMedica’s Evercore Clinical Enterprise Suite will enable us to provide convenient clinician access to images across our Diagnostic Imaging, Cardiology and Radiation Oncology services.” said Chuck Scully, Renown Health’s CIO. “Once we discovered how Evercore could address those areas and more, we knew TeraMedica was the right solution to provide access to our patients’ extensive digital imaging history.  We are confident TeraMedica will allow us to manage our future image volume under any strategic scenario.”  Added Scully, “With important regional service imparities like Trauma, Stroke, Cardiology and Oncology, our two acute care hospitals, rehabilitation hospital, primary, specialist and urgent care networks, significant outpatient imaging and more, we anticipate that Evercore’s benefits will be realized quickly.”

Evercore integrates and manages patient-centric clinical content in the clinical and research settings across wide geographies, including standard DICOM objects. Evercore also possesses the ability to natively manage and distribute beyond DICOM using global standards such as MPG, JPG, PDF and many other critical clinical content such as treatment plans for cancer care or vital reports in non-standard formats.

Evercore’s Vendor Neutral Architecture Expands the Utility and Access of Clinical Data

(November 21, 2011 - MILWAUKEE, WI) TeraMedica’s Evercore® Clinical Enterprise Suite, the leading Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) in the industry, is now both MINT (Medical Imaging Network Transport) and XDS (Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing Profile) enabled. MINT provides improved patient care through faster access to medical data with no need for redundant data. XDS enables existing clinical information systems to connect to IHE XDS-based healthcare information exchanges. Both of these technologies are highlighted at RSNA 2011 in Booth 3002 in the South Hall of McCormick Place.

“TeraMedica continually works to incorporate the latest advances in technology to enhance patient care,” said Mark Wheeler, TeraMedica’s Vice President of Product Development. “By incorporating MINT and XDS into our Evercore clinical data repository, TeraMedica significantly increases access speed and greatly expands the methods by which medical data may be retrieved.”

Evercore’s support of MINT eliminates the need for DICOM routing and application-specific caches. Evercore’s use of MINT allows for direct access to the metadata, independent of the pixel data, removing data duplication. MINT also encodes the data in XML, the enterprise standard. Image viewing capabilities for MINT are provided through a partnership with Vital, A Toshiba Medical Systems Group Company.

In addition, TeraMedica now delivers the XDS within its Evercore® Clinical Enterprise Suite. Evercore delivers a full suite of XDS and XDS-I functionality in compliance with the IHE IT Integration Profile. By delivering the XDS-I functionality, Evercore enables web-access to DICOM images through the WADO standard and also optimizes performance through streaming capability for storing and retrieving.

For a demonstration or more information on the benefits of Evercore utilizing MINT and XDS, visit TeraMedica’s Booth #3002 in Chicago’s McCormick Place South during RSNA 2011.

Evercore’s flexible and scalable architecture integrates and manages patient-centric clinical content in clinical and research settings across wide geographies. Evercore natively manages and distributes data beyond DICOM using global standards such as MPG, JPG, PDF and many types of critical clinical content such as treatment plans for cancer care or vital reports in unstructured data formats.

TeraMedica’s patented Smartstore™ module intelligently manages the total image lifecycle of DICOM and beyond. Evercore Smartstore™ and Univision Zero-Download Viewer Achieves Visible Light Workflow and EMR Visualization

(November 15th, 2011 - MILWAUKEE, WI) TeraMedica announced that following the signing of an agreement between the parties on September 30, 2011, Stanford Hospital & Clinics will be implementing TeraMedica's Evercore® Enterprise Vendor Neutral Architecture (VNA) in early 2012. Specifically, Stanford Hospital & Clinics will be utilizing TeraMedica’s Evercore Smartstore™ and Univision modules.

“Evercore allows for unlimited image distribution and native viewing of visible light objects,” said Jim Prekop, TeraMedica’s President and CEO. “Our patented solution is able to address requirements by delivering storage and access of visible light data seamlessly across an open architecture.”

Added Prekop: “Our Evercore Clinical Enterprise Suite provides viewing and distribution of data through Epic, via the Evercore Univision module, anywhere the Epic Hyperspace is available to the user population. By implementing TeraMedica’s scalable Vendor Neutral Architecture, a hospital can further enhance its patient care and take great strides towards meaningful use.”

Prekop further commented: “TeraMedica developed an ActiveX Evercore to interface to EpicAPI for the storage of visible (non-DICOM) data (photos) into Evercore through Epic. The ActiveX Evercore interface allows medical assistants to retire their ‘sneaker net’ and upload photos immediately after acquisition from the exam room. Previously, the workflow required medical assistants to walk a camera to and from a file room for uploading. The files were then sent to a shared folder location on the network without patient or encounter context.”
